Bishkek, April 17, 2026. /Kabar/. Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Akyl Toktobaev and WFP Country Director Kojiro Nakai discussed strengthening climate cooperation.
According to the ministry, the minister noted the importance of ongoing joint activities with WFP in the area of climate change, in particular the results achieved through the project "Empowering Vulnerable, Food-Insecure Communities through Climate Services and Diversification of Climate-Sensitive Livelihoods in Kyrgyzstan."
In turn, Kojiro Nakai congratulated Akyl Toktobaev on his appointment to this responsible position and expressed gratitude for his active work and collaboration.
During the meeting, he stated that cooperation also encompasses the development of regulatory frameworks, the implementation of the country's climate change priorities and commitments, and preparations for the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC.
WFP Country Director noted that the aforementioned project is nearing completion, and the organization is prepared to continue working with the Ministry of Ecology and to explore the possibility of implementing new initiatives.
Furthermore, the parties discussed possible areas of further cooperation.
