Bishkek, Feb. 25, 2025. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU), together with the Football Associations of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, plans to host the 2031 Asian Cup. The corresponding application was sent to the Asian Football Confederation on February 24, the KFU reported.

Earlier, the KFU leadership held a series of negotiations with representatives of the Football Association of Uzbekistan and the Football Federation of Tajikistan on this issue. At this stage, a preliminary application has been submitted to the AFC, and information about the stadiums that will host the tournament matches will be provided to the AFC later.

The football facilities under construction in our country make it possible to host continental tournaments of this level. According to the AFC requirements, the stadium hosting the final match and the opening ceremony of the Asian Cup must accommodate at least 50 thousand spectators. It should be noted that the Bishkek Arena stadium under construction will be designed for 51 thousand spectators.

"It will be a great honor for us to jointly host the main football tournament of the continent with other Central Asian countries. This will strengthen friendly ties with neighboring states and enhance the international image of Kyrgyzstan," said KFU President Kamchybek Tashiev.

The full process of submitting an application to host the Asian Cup consists of several stages and will take some time. At the moment, Kuwait, Indonesia and the UAE have also announced their intention to host the 2031 tournament. The AFC will determine the host of the tournament in 2026.
