Bishkek, Aug. 25, 2026 /Kabar/. Local specialist Urmat Abdukaimov has been appointed the new head coach of the Kyrgyzstan national football team, Kyrgyz Football Union reports.
According to KFU, Urmat Abdukaimov replaces Robert Prosinecki as head coach of the national team. The new head coach has been tasked with ensuring the team's high-quality preparation for upcoming international tournaments, including the 2027 Asian Cup, and achieving the national team's goals.
Urmat Abdukaimov is an experienced professional holding an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Category A coaching license. He has worked at various levels of Kyrgyz football and has accumulated significant experience coaching youth and national teams.
He previously served as head coach of the Kyrgyzstan U-23 Olympic team. He also coached the Premier League club Talant, having experience in club football.
Urmat Abdukaimov also serves as an instructor at coach training courses and seminars organized by the Kyrgyz Football Union and actively participates in educational programs aimed at improving the professional skills of local coaches.
