Bishkek, March 19, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Ratification of the Exchange Notes between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Japan on the Project 'Strengthening the Capacity of the Training Center for Electric Grid Operation and Maintenance in the Kyrgyz Republic' and the Grant Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the Project 'Strengthening the Capacity of the Training Center for Electric Grid Operation and Maintenance in the Kyrgyz Republic,' signed on December 12, 2025, in Bishkek," adopted by Jogorku Kenesh on February 26, 2026.
The law is aimed at conducting domestic procedures for the entry into force of this Agreement.
These Exchange Notes and the Grant Agreement provide for the attraction of grant funds from the Government of Japan in the amount of 1,535,000,000 (one billion five hundred thirty-five million) Japanese yen, which will be used for the modernization and development of the educational and material base of the Training Center of the open joint-stock company "National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan" in order to improve the level of training and retraining of specialists in the electric power industry, ensuring the reliable and sustainable operation of the electric grids of the Kyrgyz Republic.
