Bishkek, March 11, 2026 /Kabar/. Speaking at Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament), the head of state noted that Kyrgyzstan is already self-sufficient in six types of food. These include milk, potatoes, vegetables, sugar, meat, and eggs.
At the same time, according to the president, some products are still imported. These include flour, fruit, and vegetable oil. The authorities intend to gradually establish domestic production of fruit and vegetable oil to reduce dependence on imports.
Zhaparov emphasized that fully providing the country with flour is more difficult due to natural conditions.
"Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country: approximately 94% of the territory is mountainous. Only about 6% is accounted for by other lands, some of which are occupied by cities and towns,” the president noted.
