Bishkek, Aug. 18, 2026 /Kabar/. Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyz Republic, met with Chen Xiaojian, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region(XUAR), during a working visit to China.

The meeting noted the successful development of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China. It was emphasized that, thanks to the political will and personal support of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Chinese President Xi Jinping, major projects such as the construction of the Kyrgyzstan-China-Uzbekistan railway and the Barskoon-Bedel-Uchturfan-Aksu highway, the opening of the Bedel border crossing, and direct air service linking Bishkek and Osh with Urumqi and Kashgar cities are being actively implemented.

Erlist Akunbekov noted that the main goal of the working visit to China is to establish direct contacts between companies from the two countries operating in the petroleum products sector and to expedite the supply of fuel and lubricants to Kyrgyzstan.

"Our delegation includes representatives of Kyrgyz businesses operating in the petroleum products sector. Some of them have already begun cooperation with Chinese companies. The day before, government agencies of the two countries held working meetings to discuss transportation issues, customs clearance, and other relevant matters related to the supply of fuels and lubricants to Kyrgyzstan. A number of our companies have already signed contracts for the supply of aviation fuel and diesel. The first batches of fuel have been successfully delivered from China to Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, I would like to express my gratitude to the Chinese government for its support and assistance in resolving this issue," said Erlist Akunbekov.

Furthermore, the parties discussed plans for joint projects in the exploration and development of oil and gas fields in Kyrgyzstan, the construction of oil refineries, and the creation of infrastructure for the storage, transit, and transshipment of cargo at border crossing points.

In turn, Chen Xiaojiang, Secretary of the Communist Party of China in XUAR expressed his willingness to support all projects of mutual interest and noted China's interest in further developing trade with Kyrgyzstan through XUAR, as well as actively pursuing new areas of cooperation.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to simplify and expedite the process of supplying fuel and lubricants from China to Kyrgyzstan, taking into account the international oil market situation and the need to ensure stable supplies of petroleum products to Kyrgyzstan.
