Bishkek, July 28, 2026 /Kabar/. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan issued a statement regarding the imposition of sanctions against one of the country's commercial banks.
According to the country's main financial regulator, the banking sector is currently stable, adequately capitalized, and has sufficient liquidity and resilience to various external risks. Commercial banks are operating normally and providing banking services to clients on an uninterrupted basis.
"National Bank will continue to continuously monitor the situation and, if necessary, will take appropriate measures within the framework of the Constitutional Law of Kyrgyz Republic 'On the National Bank of Kyrgyz Republic' and the Law of Kyrgyz Republic 'On Banks and Banking Activities,' aimed at minimizing the potential impact of sanctions on the country's financial system," the statement says.
As a reminder, on July 23, the European Union approved the 21st sanctions package. The updated list includes Kyrgyzstan's EcoIslamicBank, which is connected to the Russian equivalent of the SWIFT international system.
