Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, received Altamash Wazir Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the beginning of the meeting, the sides noted that a number of high-level visits had taken place between the two countries in a short period of time. It was emphasized that the key agreements reached at the head of state level now need to be translated into concrete content and translated into projects, investments, and practical results tangible for the citizens and business communities of both countries.
During the bilateral talks, the main focus was on the export of kidney beans produced in Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan. Particular importance was placed on establishing direct contacts between Kyrgyz producers and Pakistani importers, organizing and participating in bilateral trade exhibitions, and developing specific volumes and terms of supply.
According to statistics, the export potential of kidney beans exceeds 50,000 tons. At the same time, Kyrgyz beans enjoy steady demand in foreign markets. In 2025, the total value of bean exports was USD 67 million.
It is worth noting that during recent high-level visits, the intention to increase mutual trade between the two countries to USD 200 million over the next two years was confirmed.
To achieve this goal, the parties agreed to intensify efforts to supply Kyrgyz agricultural products to the Pakistani market and to begin joint practical efforts to expand mutual trade.
