Bishkek, June 23, 2026. /Kabar/. There are currently over 11,000 hazardous areas throughout Kyrgyzstan, Emergency Situations Minister Kanatbek Chynybaev told Kabar.

According to him, the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Department of Monitoring and Forecasting conducts annual research throughout the country, identifying potentially hazardous areas.

The minister noted that special book has been prepared for each such area and distributed to the president and all heads of the country's aiyl okmotu (local administrations). This publication is an important tool in emergency prevention efforts.

"Every local leader must know about hazardous areas in their territory, when planning new settlements. The book helps to determine whether construction is permissible in a particular location," Chynybaev emphasized.

He also added that citizens are currently assisting the Ministry of Emergency Situations in preventing emergencies by participating in the construction of irrigation ditches and the expansion of hydraulic structures.
