Bishkek, Aug 4, 2026 /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law of Kyrgyz Republic "On Burial and Funeral Services'".
The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on June 25, 2026.
The purpose of the Law is to improve legal regulation in the field of funeral services, distinguishing between ritual activities and sanitary and technical measures related to the handling of biological objects.
The law provides for:
– exclusion of regulations allowing cremation, the burning of the body of the deceased (fire burial);
– exclusion of regulations allowing the burial and reburial of an urn containing the ashes of the deceased;
– ban on the use of crematoriums for the incineration of deceased human bodies, aborted or stillborn human fetuses, except for sanitary thermal destruction of human organs and tissues resulting from medical procedures.
The law shall enter into force ten days after its official publication.
