Kyrgyzstan proposes to create Global Center

Bishkek, April 10, 2026. /Kabar/. Special Representative of the President for the Mountain Agenda Dinara Kemelova met Ambassador of Uzbekistan Saidikram Niyazhodzhayev.

They discuss issues of preserving mountain ecosystems and glaciers, biodiversity, as well as the impact of climate change on Central Asia.

Kyrgyz side shared its plans for the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25" and proposed the initiative to create a Global Center for the Sustainability of Mountain Regions, the possibility of creating a scientific hub for mountain research, and the initiative to brand mountain products.

They particularly focused on expanding cooperation and exchanging experience in the field of supporting local communities, including the development of handicrafts, agro- and ecotourism.

The parties held talks on issues of increasing climate resilience, including the introduction of early warning systems and the prevention of natural disasters in the mountainous and lowland regions of Central Asia.

As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation within global platforms, supporting mutual initiatives on sustainable development.
