Bishkek, Feb. 21, 2025. /Kabar/. There is an acute shortage of medical personnel, head of the department for control over decisions of the president and the cabinet of ministers of the Presidential Administration Azamat Osmonov told during a board meeting in Bishkek.
"The analysis revealed a critical situation: more than 5,000 medical workers are lack in the country, while the number of doctors over 50 years old. Many of them are of retirement age, more than 3,200. Every year, universities graduate about 2,000 doctors, but only a quarter of them go to work in state clinics, which exacerbates the shortage," said Azamat Osmonov.
He emphasized that the key factor for a doctor is experience, which can only be fully obtained in state institutions. The departure of young specialists to private clinics, where full-fledged practice is difficult, creates a risk to the health of patients.
To solve the problem, it is necessary for ministries to conduct a detailed analysis of the labor market and create mechanisms linking education and the labor market, including mandatory agreements between employers and universities.
