Kyrgyzstan to expand preschool education coverage

Bishkek, July 28, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Ministry of Education held an online working meeting on increasing preschool education coverage.

According to ministry, the meeting was attended by representatives of the ministry, presidential plenipotentiary representatives in the regions, and representatives of the Bishkek and Osh mayor's offices.

The meeting addressed the implementation of Phase III of the preschool education transformation project, scheduled for 2024–2026, the progress of the pilot testing of the voucher-based financing mechanism for preschool services, and the implementation of targets to increase preschool enrollment.

Participants analyzed current work in the regions, discussed existing challenges and possible solutions, and reviewed preschool enrollment indicators for each region.

Following the meeting, they identified priority objectives for expanding children's access to preschool education. State and local government agencies were instructed to strengthen their efforts in this area and ensure oversight of implementation of these objectives.
