Bishkek, March 26, 2025. /Kabar /. On March 25, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan Avazbek Atakhanov met with Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan Jemal Beker Abdullah, who was recently accredited in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that during the conversation, the ambassador of Ethiopia expressed gratitude to the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov for the decision to open the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Ethiopia and noted that this step will be an important impetus for the development of bilateral cooperation. He also expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan, by opening a diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa, will create a bridge for interaction not only with Ethiopia, but also with other countries of the African continent.
For his part, Ambassador Atakhanov informed his colleague that in the near future the Kyrgyz Republic will send its diplomats to organize the work of the new embassy in the capital of Ethiopia. He also asked the Ethiopian side to assist the Kyrgyz diplomatic mission in solving the tasks set before them by the leadership of Kyrgyzstan.
The parties agreed to intensify joint efforts to strengthen bilateral ties in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Ethiopia is the oldest independent state in Africa with a population of 126 million people (2nd place on the continent), the capital Addis Ababa is the diplomatic center of Africa, where the headquarters of the African Union is located. The country has a fast-growing economy ($160 billion GDP), the basis of which is agriculture (coffee, flowers), the textile industry and hydropower. As the largest aviation hub in Africa (Ethiopian Airlines) and a promising market, Ethiopia is of particular interest for the development of trade, economic and cultural cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
