Kyrgyzstan, UNICEF implement new mechanisms to protect children's rights

Bishkek, March 16, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Children's Rights Commissioner Asel Chynbaeva met with UNICEF Representative in Kyrgyzstan Samman Thapa.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers' press service, during the meeting, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation in protecting children's rights and well-being.

Following the talks, an annual work plan for social policy programs for 2026-2027 was signed, aimed at strengthening the system for protecting children's rights and developing mechanisms for monitoring the situation of children in the country.

The cooperation will also focus on systematic monitoring of children's situations, strengthening interagency cooperation, and enhancing the effectiveness of the Children's Rights Commissioner's Office.

The parties emphasized that the implementation of the joint plan will improve the effectiveness of state policy in protecting children's rights and ensure a more comprehensive approach to addressing issues affecting children in Kyrgyzstan.

"During the meeting, the importance of further developing the partnership between the Children's Rights Commissioner's Office and UNICEF was emphasized, aimed at ensuring that every child has the conditions for the full development, protection, and realization of their rights," the statement says.
