Bishkek, April 9, 2026 /Kabar/. The Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan shared unusual facts linking nature and technology.

Kyrgyzstan’s natural resources play a significant role in the global technology industry, the Ministry of Natural Resources said, highlighting the connection between the country’s geology and modern innovations.

According to the ministry, the production of modern devices such as smartphones depends on the extraction of a wide range of minerals, many of which are found in Kyrgyzstan’s subsoil.

More than 60 chemical elements are required to manufacture a standard smartphone. Gold and copper are used in microcircuits, lithium enables long-lasting battery performance, and silicon forms the basis of processors that determine device speed.

Kyrgyzstan possesses substantial reserves of several of these elements, positioning the country as a potential contributor to global supply chains for high-tech industries.

“Geology is not only the history of the Earth, but also the future of technology. The wealth of natural resources supports the development of modern economies and innovation,” the ministry said.

It added that investment in geological exploration and the sustainable development of mineral deposits is essential to maintaining Kyrgyzstan’s role in the global technology ecosystem, underpinning the production of smartphones, electric vehicles, and advanced medical equipment.
