Bishkek, Aug 7, 2026. /Kabar/. Member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) must pay special attention to developing industrial cooperation, ensuring food security, and expanding mutual trade. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told at expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which is taking place in Cholpon-Ata.
According to Mishustin, despite existing global challenges, EAEU member states are demonstrating positive macroeconomic performance. Gross domestic product, industrial production, agriculture, and retail trade are growing. Mutual trade between the union countries also continues to develop.
Russian PM emphasized the importance of further deepening industrial cooperation within the EAEU. According to him, the unification of production capacities, raw materials, and human resources of the states will allow the union to fully realize its industrial potential.
"More attention must be paid to production diversification and the development of cooperation. Such joint ventures can be established in different countries, including Kyrgyzstan," Mishustin noted.
He proposed discussing these issues in detail at industrial exhibition to be held in Belarus.
Furthermore, Mishustin touched upon the scientific and technological development of the EAEU. He stated that, as part of the union's long-term strategic program for scientific and technological development, it is necessary to conduct joint research, develop new products, and exchange advanced technologies and experience.
Mikhail Mishustin proposed that the Eurasian Economic Commission prepare an implementation plan for this strategic program. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening food security within the EAEU. He stated that union countries should strive to fully satisfy domestic demand for essential foodstuffs, including grain, poultry, milk, sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs.
To this end, Mishustin noted, it is important to provide agriculture with essential fertilizers, safe feed additives for livestock development, and modern veterinary drugs. Expanding production of such products within the union will reduce dependence on external suppliers.
Speaking about the decisions planned for the meeting, Mishustin particularly emphasized the importance of the agreement on the mutual recognition of academic degrees. He stated that this document will allow scientists, researchers, and innovators to freely use their acquired knowledge and qualifications throughout the EAEU.
Furthermore, it was noted that allowing brokers to operate on the exchanges of EAEU member states as part of the formation of a common financial market will facilitate the expansion of investment cooperation.
Mishustin also called the adoption of an agreement on electronic commerce of goods an important step. He stated that the document will create uniform and clear rules for businesses and will also expand the range of goods available on electronic trading platforms for citizens.
The Russian Prime Minister announced that a new law regulating the platform economy will come into force in Russia on October 1. According to him, the document aims to create transparent rules for e-commerce.
He emphasized the importance of timely updating of product conformity assessment data to ensure the promotion of EAEU goods through Russian e-commerce platforms.
Mishustin also noted the need to digitalize transport and logistics processes. He noted that virtually all rail freight shipments between Russia and Belarus are already carried out using electronic documents, and with Kazakhstan, this figure has approached 80%.
"This approach significantly simplifies doing business and speeds up administrative procedures," he said.
In conclusion, the Russian Prime Minister emphasized the importance of expanding the EAEU's foreign economic ties and developing cooperation with China, Iran, and other partner states.
He stated that developing external relations remains a priority for the union, and Russia is ready to support efforts to expand the number of the EAEU's trade and economic partners.
