More than 60 countries become official representatives of WNG

Issyk-Kul, Sept. 2, 2026 /Kabar/. Interest in the World Nomad Games is growing every year, and the number of participating countries has increased from 82 to 109. Nursultan Adenov, head of the secretariat for organizing and holding the 6th World Nomad Games told at press conference at the Gazprom Sports and Recreation Center in Cholpon-Ata.

According to him, representatives from 82 countries participated in the previous World Nomad Games, held in Kyrgyzstan, and 89 countries participated in the most recent Games. This year, athletes from 109 countries are participating in the 6th World Nomad Games.

"Looking at the dynamics over eight years, the number of participating countries has grown from 82 to 109. This demonstrates increased interest in this project," Adenov noted.

According to him, today's global interest in their culture, national values, and history is growing, and ethnosports are also developing in line with this trend.

"Along with Olympic and mass sports, ethnosports is also reaching the global level. The World Nomad Games is a major international project created in Kyrgyzstan that unites ethnosports," he said.

According to the organizers, the Games hold great promise. At the next competition, it is planned to have at least 50-100 athletes from each country.

To this end, World Nomad Games representative offices are being established in participating countries. Currently, agreements have been signed with partners in more than 60 countries, who have been granted the status of official representatives of the Games, according to the head of the secretariat.

"The main task of the representative offices is to promote the World Nomad Games in their countries, select and train athletes, and create conditions for the formation and dispatch of expanded delegations to the next Games," Adenov said.
