Bishkek, Oct. 6, 2026 /Kabar/. A national open competition for komuz (national instrument) players will take place in Bishkek, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Namazbek Uraliev, a People's Artist of Kyrgyz Republic and an outstanding player and *küüchi* (performer of traditional melodies). Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy reports.
The competition aims to support and develop the art of traditional Kyrgyz music, preserve national musical heritage, identify talented komuz players, and support their creative endeavors.
Applications for participation are being accepted until October 15, 2026. The qualifying round will take place on October 22 at the K. Moldobasanov Kyrgyz National Conservatory.
The anniversary celebration and the gala concert featuring the winners of the national open competition will be held on October 24 at 14:00 at the T. Satylganov Kyrgyz National Philharmonic.
