Bishkek, Dec. 16, 2025. /Kabar/. The ceremonial lighting of the country's main New Year's tree took place in Bishkek's central Ala-Too Square.
Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev and Deputy Chairman of Bishkek city council Zhyldyzbek Abdraimov addressed the city's residents and guests with welcoming speeches.
"The symbolic lighting of the tree reminds us of the importance of creating a bright and welcoming space in the heart of the Kyrgyz Republic. This holiday unites people of all ages, inspiring care and love for our hometown. The coming year, 2026, is the Year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of freedom, strength, activity, and vibrant change. I am confident that Bishkek will become a place of new opportunities, dynamic development, and bold decisions aimed at the benefit of its residents and the future of our capital," said Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev.
Rich festive program was prepared for the event's guests, creating a truly magical atmosphere. A spectacular fire show was a highlight of the evening, providing the audience with unforgettable emotions and serving as the culmination of the festive program.
One of the key features of the evening was the large recreation area set up in Ala-Too Square. The center of the capital was transformed into a space for family leisure and winter entertainment. Colorful New Year's decorations and fairytale installations, themed photo zones, a food court with hot drinks and street food, and the largest open-air skating rink created a truly cozy and festive atmosphere. Ayaz-Ata and Santa Claus reception areas are open for children, offering gifts, and chocolate and gingerbread workshops are also held.
The main New Year tree is 32 meters tall.
