President Zhaparov outlines Kyrgyzstan’s cooperation priorities within CIS

Bishkek, Oct. 9, 2026 /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov participated today, October 9, in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, held in both narrow and extended formats in Turkmenistan.

During the narrow-format meeting, the head of state emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s unwavering commitment to developing cooperation within the CIS and strengthening mutually beneficial ties and good-neighborly relations among the Commonwealth states.

Sadyr Zhaparov highlighted the importance of expanding trade, economic, investment, and industrial cooperation, as well as collaboration in the energy sector, the agro-industrial complex, transport, logistics, the digital economy, and innovation.

The president also outlined prospects for cooperation in tourism and the development of mountainous regions, inviting CIS heads of state to participate in the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25," to be held in Kyrgyzstan in October 2027.

Regarding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Sadyr Zhaparov proposed holding joint events under the auspices of the CIS to mark the centenary of the prominent Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov in 2028.

In conclusion, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized Kyrgyzstan's readiness to continue contributing to the strengthening of the Commonwealth.

Subsequently, the heads of state held a meeting in an extended format. It was attended by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian as a guest of honor.
