Bishkek, March 5, 2026. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov received the President of Airbus Europe Johan Pelissier and the Senior Vice President of BBAM Leasing Maurice Prendergast.

The meeting discussed the issues of expanding the aircraft fleet with new aircraft and strengthening partnerships in the civil aviation sector.

The president noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to expanding mutually beneficial and effective cooperation with Airbus Europe, and the agreement signed today is a clear proof of this.

“We highly appreciate this as a significant contribution to the development of civil aviation in our country, increasing the reliability of transportation, strengthening flight safety and expanding the capabilities of air routes,” said Sadyr Zhaparov, noting that today the country's aviation industry is developing dynamically.

In this context, he noted that major work has been carried out to modernize airport infrastructure, expand regional routes and bring the aviation structure into line with international standards. If earlier there were 4 fully-fledged airports, now all 11 are operating, and the construction of the Jalal-Abad International Airport is underway.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan is in the final stages of the process of being removed from the European Union's "black list" for aviation safety. Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the final audit is planned for this month.

In turn, Airbus Europe President Johan Pelissier highly appreciated the results achieved in improving the aviation industry in Kyrgyzstan, noting the ongoing work to modernize the industry and improve aviation safety.

He expressed interest in expanding cooperation on a long-term basis, not only in the field of commercial aviation, but also in other areas, including transport and logistics.

“We are pleased to hear that Kyrgyzstan is in the final stages of the EU audit and are ready to provide the necessary support in this matter,” said Johan Pelissier.

Senior Vice President of BBAM Leasing Maurice Prendergast noted that the aircraft purchased by Kyrgyzstan fully meet international standards, adding that the company’s specialists will visit the country to help master the operating systems and technical features of the new aircraft.

At the end of the meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov, Airbus Europe President Johan Pelissier, and BBAM Leasing Senior Vice President Maurice Prendergast confirmed their readiness to continue mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation.
