Bishkek, March 11, 2025. /Kabar/. Resolution of the border issue will pave the way for cooperation between the two states, scientist and border expert Salamat Alamanov told Kabar Agency.

He said that the uresolved issues of the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan weakened bilateral relations. Now the definition of border lines creates a basis for strengthening cooperation.

"Defining the border is a great achievement. For our state and people, this is an important step to establish good relations with our neighbors. For many years, there were problematic situations, and now they have been resolved. Overall, the border delimitation is one of the most difficult and necessary tasks between the states, both from a political and economic point of view. As a person who is deeply familiar with this problem, I highly appreciate its solution. I think that the most important work has been completed. If the heads of state sign the relevant documents and the parliaments of the two countries ratify them, broad opportunities for bilateral cooperation will be open up.

The solution of the border issue will give impetus to the development of all areas of interaction between the countries, because by its nature this issue is closely connected with other aspects of bilateral relations. Therefore, we must hope for the restoration of good-neighborly relations between the two countries," Salamat Alamanov said.

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed in Bishkek a final protocol on the border on February 21, following a joint meeting of the government delegations of two countries on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border.

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon is expected to arrive in Bishkek on March 12 to sign an Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan on the state border and other bilateral documents.
