SCO: Kyrgyz-Chinese clean energy laboratory opens in Bishkek

Bishkek, July 2, 2026 /Kabar/. The 3rd International Forum of Academicians on Green Energy of the SCO Member States is underway in Bishkek.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, the event included the opening of Kyrgyz-Chinese joint laboratory "Clean Energy and Energy Storage" as part of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, as well as the launch of a "Digital Intelligence" demonstration center aimed at training specialists in energy conservation and energy storage technologies.

In addition, the publication "Green Energy in SCO Member States: Strategies, Regulation, and Prospects" presented to the participants.

During the forum, Deputy Energy Minister Salavat Sadyrakunov noted Kyrgyzstan's interest in developing scientific cooperation within the SCO. He emphasized that joint laboratories and innovation centers will facilitate the practical development of the country's energy sector, the implementation of new technologies, and the strengthening of human resources.

The main goal of the forum is to unite the scientific and academic community of the SCO countries, exchange experience in developing renewable energy sources, and discuss current trends in energy transformation. The development of clean energy today is not only an environmental priority but also a key factor in energy security, economic growth, and technological development.

The ministry noted that this forum is of strategic importance for Kyrgyzstan, opening up additional opportunities for attracting investment in green energy, implementing modern technologies, and developing hydropower, solar, and wind energy. Particular attention is paid to issues of personnel training and expansion of scientific research in the energy sector.
