On April 29, 2025, the fourth International Forum on Medical Innovations on the theme "Medical Innovations and Their Sharing for Sustainable Healthcare Development" was held in Fangchenggang, China. The event was organized by the China Committee for Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation of the SCO (CCGFCS) jointly with the government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China.
Addressing the participants with a welcome speech, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, noted that this Forum has established itself as a unique platform bringing together government bodies, the scientific community, business, and international structures. It was emphasized that the Forum has already launched a number of projects, one of which was the creation of the International Medical Open Pilot Zone at the suggestion of Chinese President Xi Jinping at the SCO summit in 2019.On the sidelines of the discussions, the Secretary-General of the Organization met with the vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, also chairperson of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Ms. Shen Yueyue.
The parties discussed current issues of cooperation, in particular, preparations for joint events within the framework of China's chairmanship in the SCO in 2024-2025. The Secretary-General expressed gratitude to the Committee for its significant contribution to the development of the Organization's cultural and humanitarian ties.
