Bishkek, March 9, 2026. /Kabar/. A snow leopard conservation plan has been adopted through 2030. Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Asel Raimkulova announced this at a parliamentary committee meeting.

She noted that, as a result of the measures taken, the snow leopard population in the republic has now exceeded 550 individuals.

"To improve the condition of specially protected natural areas, a snow leopard corridor has been created, covering a total area of ​​792,000 hectares, connecting Khan-Tengri, Sary-Chat-Ertash, and the Naryn region. "Also, the Baibosun and Kotormo nature reserves and the Academy of Sciences Botanical Park were included in the list of specially protected areas," she said.
