Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan and IMF discus improving economic statistics

Bishkek, Feb. 14, 2025. /Kabar/. Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of KyrgyzstanBaktybek Kudaibergenov held a meeting with Real Sector Advisor of the Regional Development Center of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the Caucasus, Central Asia and Mongolia Levan Gogoberishvili.

During the meeting, the successful implementation of work on calculating quarterly national accounts (QNA) and improving gross domestic product (GDP) indicators in accordance with international standards was discussed, the Statistics Committee said.

Gogoberishvili's working mission in Kyrgyzstan is to consult and support the process of developing and forming quarterly national accounts, which contributes to a more detailed analysis of the economic situation in the country and improving the quality of statistical data.

Gogoberishvili noted the importance of cooperation with the National Statistics Committee and emphasized the positive results of the work on calculating the indices of physical volume of taxes on products, which had a positive impact on the GDP growth rate.

Chairman of the National Statistics Committee, Baktybek Kudaibergenov, expressed gratitude for the work done. "We appreciate the contribution of Mr. Levan Gogoberishvili to the development of our statistical system. The work done within the framework of his mission helps us significantly improve the calculation methodology and increase the accuracy of data. These efforts contribute to improving the quality of statistics and strengthening economic analytics for more informed decisions," he said.

Also during the meeting, the importance of further improving national statistics and improving the availability of data for more accurate forecasts and analysis of economic processes in Kyrgyzstan was emphasized.
