Bishkek, May 16, 2025. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov on May 15, received the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais.
The issues of deepening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EU in the trade, economic, investment, transport and logistics spheres, energy and sustainable development were discussed.
The head of state congratulated Eduards Stiprais on his appointment as the EU Special Representative for Central Asia and wished him success in implementing the tasks set and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the conversation, Sadyr Zhaparov outlined the priority areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation with the European Union. He emphasized the significant hydropower potential of the country and reported on the projects being implemented in this area, including large infrastructure initiatives with the participation of international partners. In the context of developing transport links, the President noted the prospects for expanding transit potential and strengthening interconnectivity through the implementation of international logistics projects.
Eduards Stiprais noted that cooperation between the European Union and the countries of the region is developing dynamically.
In the context of serious regional changes, he emphasized the importance of the role of state leaders whose determination contributes to sustainable development. He paid special attention to achieving a historic agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the border issue, calling it an important and inspiring example for the entire region.
Eduards Stiprais emphasized that stability in Central Asia is of strategic importance for the European Union. He noted that without the development of transport and trade infrastructure, it will be difficult for the countries of the region to enter world markets, which limits economic potential. In this regard, the European Union will continue to promote the expansion of transport corridors and the strengthening of logistics links.
