Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2025. /Kabar/. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) considers applications for accession or change of status from 19 countries, SCO General Secretary Nurlan Ermekbaev told "Izvestia".
Currently, "in the basket" there are applications from 19 countries to change the status or join the organization in a full or private capacity, whether it is a member state, partner or observer. With the fact that "SCO community" already consists of 27 states, this indicates the high attractiveness of the organization, the coherence of its goals and tasks, which are of interest to many people in the world," said the Secretary General.
SCO summit was held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. Leaders of more than 20 states and representatives of 10 international organizations took part in it. At the end of the summit, 15 cooperation documents were signed.
