Bishkek, Jan. 14, 2026. /Kabar/. In order to strengthen the energy security of Kyrgyzstan, the project for commissioning the second hydroelectric unit of the Kambarata-2 HPP is being actively implemented, Ministry of Energy reports.

According to information, the project is being implemented with the financial support of the Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund, and the international consulting company Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG is providing technical support and engineering supervision.

As a result of international tenders, contractors were selected for all areas of work:

For lots No. 1 and No. 2 — the DEC–SM consortium (China/Korea);

For lot No. 3 — the Sinohydro Bureau 16 company (China).

Currently, construction sites have been prepared, and the foundations of office and residential buildings for workers have been installed. Also, the water culvert of hydroelectric unit No. 2 and the compensator of unit No. 1 have been inspected. Preparations have begun for the start of the main construction and installation works.

"This project will allow for the effective use of the potential of Naryn River, increase electricity generation and reduce the deficit in the winter period. "Electric Stations" OJSC is constantly monitoring the work schedule," the report says.
