Bishkek, July 2, 2025. /Kabar/. 402 cases of brucellosis have been registered in Kyrgyzstan in 5 months of 2025, compared to 358 cases in the same period of 2024, the Republican Center for the Prevention and Control of Particularly Dangerous, Quarantine Infections of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The Republican Center for Quarantine Diseases reported what caused the increase in brucellosis.

The main reason for the increase in human brucellosis is the complex epizootic situation with brucellosis in farm animals. The republic has not yet developed legal acts regulating the mandatory slaughter of cattle infected with brucellosis. There are no specialized enterprises for the slaughter of sick animals in the regions. Mechanisms for compensating owners of forcedly slaughtered cattle have not been developed. Timely diagnostic tests and vaccination of animals are not carried out, veterinary supervision of animal care and trade in livestock products is weakened. Animal owners do not comply with veterinary and sanitary requirements.

As a result of the inspection, it was established that most patients with brucellosis were infected as a result of contact with a sick animal during care.

Doctors are constantly working on the prevention of brucellosis.

"In order to inform the population on a mass scale, a series of trainings for trainers were held in October 2024 and April 2025 in 20 districts across the country. After completing the trainings, trained specialists conducted cascade training among the population in their localities, ensuring the effective dissemination of knowledge about the prevention of brucellosis at the local community level. The center’s specialists have divided the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic into zones according to the degree of risk of brucellosis infection among the population,” the report says.
