ADB ready to support agricultural modernization in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2026. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan and the Asian Development Bank discussed further cooperation in agriculture, food, water resources, and rural development.

The press service of the ministry reported that the working meeting took place on September 14 as part of an ADB advisory mission.

During the meeting, ADB expressed its readiness to support Kyrgyzstan's economic diversification, agricultural modernization, and private sector development.

"It is important for us to hear the Ministry's position and the country's priority areas. I am confident that our approaches to the development of agriculture, the food system, and water resources are aligned," ADB Sector Director Jiangfeng Zhang noted.

ADB Country Director for the Kyrgyz Republic Zheng Wu emphasized that water supply and agriculture are the bank's core activities in Kyrgyzstan. He stated that ADB is ready to jointly explore opportunities to finance the necessary projects.

First Deputy Minister Ilich Marsbek uulu noted the importance of systematic work on water resources and agriculture development, as well as attracting private investment and new sources of financing.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to continue collaborating on the development and implementation of new projects of significant importance to Kyrgyzstan.
