Bishkek, Nov. 21, 2025 /Kabar/. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will allocate $300 million for the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP, ADB President Masato Kanda told at a press conference.

According to him, ADB fully supports large infrastructure projects in Kyrgyzstan, including the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP.

“Being a multilateral partner, ADB has been actively supporting the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan. We deeply understand the strategic importance of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP. This HPP will play a major role not only in generating electricity, but also in providing water. ADB will allocate $300 million for the implementation of this large-scale project. The first tranche of $140 million will be provided soon. We are always ready to support the energy sector and innovative solutions in the field of renewable energy in Kyrgyzstan,” he said.

Kanda added that these projects, in addition to ensuring energy security, will contribute to the rational use of water resources and strengthen the water security of neighboring Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
