Bishkek, Oct. 12, 2026 /Kabar/. JSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" expresses serious concern regarding the dissemination of inaccurate information by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) concerning the funding amounts for the reconstruction of Manas International Airport and the construction of the new Jalal-Abad Airport.
Specifically, the circulated materials state that the total funding for these projects amounts to 770 million US dollars. JSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" officially declares that this information is incorrect. Publishing such details constitutes a gross distortion of the facts, misleads the public, and creates a false impression regarding the actual scale of financial investment in the development of country's airport infrastructure.
To ensure the public is informed objectively and accurately, JSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" clarifies the actual situation.
Manas International Airport
The preliminary cost for the large-scale reconstruction of the terminal complex at Manas International Airport, including the major overhaul of the runway and the modernization of associated infrastructure is approximately 130 million US dollars. However, this figure is not final, as certain works are ongoing and final financial calculations have not yet been completed. The final project cost will be determined once all planned works are finished and the relevant calculations are concluded.
Jalal-Abad Airport
The preliminary cost of the new Jalal-Abad Airport construction project, including design and related works is approximately 60 million US dollars, excluding the cost of constructing the runway.
This figure is also preliminary and subject to adjustment as construction work concludes and final financial calculations are made.
JSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" emphasizes that even after the full completion of all construction and installation works, final calculations, and the determination of the total cost for both projects, the aggregate expenditure will not reach the cited figure of 770 million US dollars.
Thus, EDB's figure is significantly overstated and does not reflect the actual financial investment in these infrastructure projects.
JSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" considers it unacceptable to disseminate unverified and inaccurate information regarding the financing of infrastructure projects of such national importance. Such publications not only mislead the public but also give rise to unfounded speculation concerning the volume and allocation of funds dedicated to the development of civil aviation in Kyrgyzstan.
The company underscores the need for a responsible approach when publishing financial and economic data, particularly regarding large-scale infrastructure projects of national significance.
