Bishkek, 29.04.26. /News/. The Balykchy - Kochkor railway is operating in pilot mode. Today, freight trains are loading gravel from Kemin quarry mode and traveling to Kochkor via Balykchy.
According to train driver Azamat Sultanov, previously trains ran on wooden sleepers, but now iron sleepers have been installed. As noted by road builder Nurislam Adylov, construction work on the Balykchy-Kochkor railway has now reached kilometer 43.
“All the sleepers, rails, and gravel are being transported by rail. Now gravel is being poured here,” he said. Today, 48 employees are working on site.
And at kilometer 47 of the railway, near the village of Semiz-Bel, rails and sleepers are being installed.
According to Bayastan Salamatov, in general, 85-90% of the railway construction work has been completed.
“A lot of work has also been done on the construction of the station. 75-80% of the work has been completed. The installation of sewage and water pipes remains. About 300 people are working on the construction,” he said.
