Bishkek, May 7, 2026 /Kabar/. For the first time, Kyrgyzstan will fully participate in the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art, one of the most prestigious venues in the global art scene. The exhibition is scheduled to open on May 8, and preparations for the national pavilion are currently being completed.
The Kyrgyz exhibit is being prepared by renowned artist and sculptor Alexey Morozov. The country's participation is being held under the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Italy, with the support of an initiative group of compatriots.
The Kyrgyz pavilion will present the art project "Belek" ("gift"). This project is in keeping with the spirit of the times, the era of digitalization and high technology. Visitors to the Kyrgyz pavilion will be able to see a highly artistic, visually immersive installation introducing Kyrgyzstan.
Venice, host of the Biennale, traditionally becomes the center of global cultural life. Artists, curators, collectors, film and music professionals, as well as political and public figures from around the world gather here.
Founded in 1895, the Venice Biennale is considered the oldest and one of the most influential contemporary art exhibitions. Participation in it offers countries the opportunity to showcase their cultural "calling card" and strengthen their position on the international art scene.
