Bishkek city theater presents its play in Russia

Bishkek, May 14, 2026. /Kabar/. The Bishkek city drama theater named after Arsen Umuraliev is participating in the International Festival "Theater. Territory of Unity" in Vladimir, Russia.

According to the theater administration, the theatrical event will run from May 12th to 25th, featuring 24 companies, approximately 200 participants, from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Bishkek, Elista, Minsk, Vladikavkaz, Petrozavodsk, Chelyabinsk, Ulyanovsk, Kineshma, Mytishchi, Vologda, Makhachkala, and Vladimir. A total of 24 performances will be presented at the festival.

On May 15th, actors from the Bishkek city drama theater will present the absurdist comedy "Obsession," popular with Kyrgyz audiences, at the Vladimir Drama Theater. Directed by Honored Artist of Tajikistan Sulton Usmonov and based on the play by Azerbaijani writer Ali Amirli.

The play "Obsession" is set in the present day. An intelligent family struggles to make ends meet, keeping a close eye on their neighbors' well-being. One day nosy lawyer appears in their squalid apartment with news of an unexpected inheritance from an aunt in Germany. However, to get the billion, they must destroy their family—that's the condition. The heroes of our story are being tested for being thruthful, keeping family values.
