Bishkek, April 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Bishkek city libraries celebrated World Children's Book Day on April 2, according to the city hall.
This day is dedicated to books, reading, and the spiritual development of children and coincides with the birthday of the great Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen.
The festival's initiator, German writer and public figure Jella Lepmann, said, "By giving a child a book, you give them wings. Good children's book is a bridge that brings people and hearts together."
Libraries No. 16, 19, 21, 22, 24, and 26 host book evenings, exhibitions of illustrated fairy tales, acting performances, and "My Favorite Hero" workshops. These events are designed to help young readers become more familiar with the world of books and develop their imagination, vocabulary, and spiritual growth.
Books develop the mind, enrich vocabulary, and expand a child's imagination. In the digital age, cartoons and games cannot replace books. The most valuable resource is the time parents spend with their children reading.
