Bishkek, April 24, 2025. /Kabar/. The International Conference "Global Mountain Dialogue for Sustainable Development: Towards the Summit Bishkek+25 " will be held in Bishkek on April 24-25.
This forum will bring together representatives of more than 50 countries from Europe, Asia, America, Africa and Australia and about 30 international organizations to discuss important aspects of sustainable development of mountain regions.
The conference is being held within the framework of the Five Years of Action for Mountain Development (2023-2025), declared by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov.
This event will be an important step in attracting the attention of the international community to the unique challenges of the inhabitants of mountain regions. The objectives of the Global Mountain Dialogue are to coordinate the efforts of the international community to integrate the mountain agenda into international climate processes; environmental conventions and sustainable development; respond to the environmental, social and economic challenges faced by mountain regions; mobilize financial resources to improve the socio-economic conditions of mountain communities and protect mountain ecosystems, as well as combat the negative effects of climate change.
Within the framework of the conference, it is planned to develop proposals and joint initiatives to expand cooperation and prepare for the Second Global Bishkek Mountain Summit 2027 "Bishkek + 25".
The main topics of the conference will be:
● The impact of climate change on mountain ecosystems and their inhabitants.
● The role of mountains in ensuring global water, food and energy security.
● Strategies for adaptation to climate change and prevention of ecosystem degradation.
● Strengthening scientific research and monitoring of glaciers and water resources.
● Financial and technical support for sustainable development of mountain regions.
