Bishkek, June 5, 2026 /Kabar/. The 4th Bishkek International Film Festival, one of the country's largest cultural events, will take place in Bishkek from June 7 to 12. It brings together filmmakers, producers, directors, and actors from around the world.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the festival's opening ceremony will take place on June 7 outdoors at Turdakun Usubaliev Square. At 6:00 PM, participants, guests, and members of the international jury will begin their procession along the traditional blue carpet, "Asman Kilem," and the official opening ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM. Following the ceremony, the organizers have prepared a special surprise for residents and guests of the capital.

The festival will feature the International Competition, the Central Asian Competition, and the national program, Kyrgyz Box.

This year, special attention is also given to premiere screenings. The program includes world premieres of films from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Iran, China, and Montenegro, as well as international and national premieres.

The non-competition program will include open-air screenings of student short films, a retrospective of legendary Kyrgyz actor Dogdurbek Kydyraliev, a Mongolian Film Week, and a large-scale industry program for the professional community—CAF Pitch, Bars in Progress, panel discussions, and screenwriting workshops.

Furthermore, one of the festival's highlights will be a meeting with the guest of honor, renowned French actress Audrey Tautou, which will take place on June 8 at 3:30 PM at the Broadway Cinema.

"The IV Bishkek International Film Festival will become an important platform for developing international cultural dialogue, supporting auteur cinema, and promoting Central Asian cinema on the global stage," the statement reads.
