Cabinet head set tasks on year-round tourism development in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Oct. 23, 2025 /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev chaired a regular meeting of the National Council for Tourism Development in the Kyrgyz Republic. According to the Cabinet's press service, representatives of relevant government agencies and business communities working in the tourism sector participated in the meeting.

Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that tourism in the country has begun to make a stable contribution to the economy, noting that in the first half of 2025, tourism's gross added value reached 30.18 billion soms, and its share of GDP amounted to 4.3%. He also added that tourism exports totaled $529.5 million, imports $283.9 million, and tax revenues reached 8.486 billion soms.

Major infrastructure projects aimed at developing tourism are currently being implemented in the country. In particular, the construction of the Ala-Too Resort ski resort is underway, as well as large-scale modernization of airports across the country, he said, emphasizing the need to address the issue of creating comfortable rest areas (rest points) for tourists traveling by car.

Six issues were discussed at the meeting, including a nine-month summary of the tourism industry's performance. Along with achievements, shortcomings were also noted. The head of the Cabinet set the task of strengthening measures to develop year-round tourism destinations, winter tourism, support for small businesses in the tourism sector, family businesses, stimulating private investment, as well as environmental protection and fostering an environmental culture among tourists. Particular attention was also paid to improving the quality of service, including the training of qualified tourism specialists.
