Bishkek, March 19, 2026 /Kabar/. Last year, 2025, was a clear confirmation that relations between Kyrgyzstan and China have entered a "golden age." Three meetings between the heads of state during the year testify to the high level of personal trust and strategic rapprochement between the leaders of the two countries, Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jianping told at briefing following the sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
According to her, the established political foundation is now being transformed into the implementation of large-scale projects that seemed difficult to implement just 20 years ago.
"Striking example is the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway – the largest investment project in the history of bilateral relations, which is of strategic importance for the entire region. In parallel, the Barskoon-Bedel highway project is being implemented with the participation of leading Chinese contractors. The development of the "green economy" is high on the agenda, particularly the construction of a waste incineration plant in Bishkek, with an investment of $95 million. Furthermore, the creation of the first pharmaceutical company in Kyrgyzstan, Standardpharm, with approximately $41 million in Chinese investment, was a significant step," the ambassador noted.
At the same time, Liu Jiangping emphasized, ordinary citizens are also experiencing this "golden age": in 2025, the number of Chinese visas issued increased by 50%, a clear sign of the mutual openness and rapprochement between the two countries.
