Bishkek, May 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Osh Mayor Zhanarbek Akaev inspected the preparatory work for the construction of a waste processing plant owned by Junxin Huanbao KG Invest Limited Liability Company.
According to the city administration, the relevant city services have been instructed to take the necessary measures to implement the project, and cooperation with government agencies has been ensured to eliminate any obstacles that may arise.
This project will include the construction of a solid waste processing plant that will generate electricity. This method will allow waste to be used as an energy resource and significantly reduce the negative impact on the environment.
Osh city generates an average of 252,000 tons of municipal solid waste annually. Previously, this waste was stored in open landfills, but now, thanks to modern technologies, it will be recycled, improving environmental safety.
"During the first phase of construction, the plant will be able to process up to 850 tons of waste per day, and is planned to generate up to 30 MW of electricity per hour. The Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic is planning to purchase the generated electricity," the statement says.
Furthermore, China's total investment in the plant's construction will amount to $95 million.
