Bishkek, Feb. 4, 2026. /Kabar/. Ministry of Energy is implementing a number of projects aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of the country's hydroelectric power plants.

As reported by the ministry, as part of these initiatives, Electric Power Plants OJSC is preparing to carry out scheduled work at a number of important energy facilities in 2026.

For example, the commissioning of the second hydroelectric unit at the Kambarata-2 HPP is currently scheduled in spring. This phase is being implemented within the framework of the ministry's programs and is aimed at the phased expansion of the plant's generating capacity.

Reconstruction of two hydroelectric units at the Uch-Kurgan HPP is also expected to begin in the spring. According to the plan, work on hydroelectric unit No. 2 will begin in February, and on hydroelectric unit No. 1 on March 1. The reconstruction will be carried out in parallel, ensuring a comprehensive upgrade of the plant's equipment and efficient coordination of all work.

At the same time, construction and infrastructure work continues at Kambarata HPP-1. In particular, finishing work is underway in the administrative and amenity complex. Engineering and communications work is underway in the dormitory under construction, including the installation of sewer and water supply networks, as well as the installation of internal partitions.

Furthermore, work has begun at the Kurpsai HPP to replace two autotransformers (AT-1 and AT-2) in the 220 kV outdoor switchgear to increase the plant's capacity. Delivery of the first autotransformer is scheduled for January 2026, the second for March 2026. Installation work will begin on April 1, 2026, and will be completed by autumn. The implementation of this project will significantly expand the operational capabilities of Kurpsai HPP.

It is also noted that in 2026, it is planned to carry out phased repair work in the administrative buildings of the branches of Electric Power Stations OJSC.
