Bishkek, Jan. 13, 2026. /Kabar/. Chakan Hydroelectric Power Plant (CHPP) has completed 80% of the construction work on Orto-Tokoy Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), according to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy.
According to the ministry, construction work at Orto-Tokoy HPP is actively continuing in accordance with the approved schedule.
In particular:
- The excavation of a 950-meter-long diversion tunnel has been fully completed;
- Concreting of the reinforced concrete lining of the water supply tunnel is underway;
- Soil preparation and stabilization work, as well as the construction of the chamber walls at the branching junction, have been completed;
- Preparations are underway for the installation of a tunnel interchange with three exits: 93.6 meters of metal structures have been installed and welded at one exit, and 74.4 meters at the second.
A number of key construction stages have also been completed at the hydroelectric power plant building:
- The construction of the hydroelectric power plant building is 90% complete;
- The reinforcement and concreting of the columns for the lifting mechanisms of the downstream spillway gates has been fully completed;
- The roof frame has been installed, and roofing work is underway;
- The installation of turbines No. 1, 2, and 3, as well as the butterfly valves, has been completed.
- The installed capacity of Orto-Tokoy HPP is 21 MW.
Construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
