Bishkek, March 25, 2025. /Kabar /. 5.8 thousand crimes were registered in Kyrgyzstan in January-February 2025, which is 11 percent less than in January-February 2024, according to data of the National Statistical Committee.
Among them, 819 serious and especially serious crimes were committed, which is almost 14 percent less than in January-February 2024.
The bulk of crimes were crimes against property, which accounted for 69 percent in January-February 2025.
In January-February of this year, the number of crimes against the person in the republic as a whole decreased by 10.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, the number of rapes decreased by 1.4 times, murders - by 9.7 percent, while the number of crimes causing less serious bodily harm increased by 9.8 percent and causing serious bodily harm - by 2.5 percent.
The decrease in the number of crimes against property compared to January-February 2024 by 10.4 percent is due to a decrease in the number of cases of theft - by 19.9 percent, robbery - by 17.4 percent, while the number of cases of extortion increased by 5.3 percent, fraud - by 4.6 percent.
A significant decrease in the number of crimes related to drug trafficking was registered (by 2.2 times). The largest share of such crimes (more than 54 percent) is related to the possession of drugs for the purpose of their sale and the possession of drugs without the purpose of sale (more than 44 percent). In January-February 2025, 355 crimes committed in public places were registered, of which the largest number were thefts (40.6 percent), cases of hooliganism (12.4 percent) and robbery (7.0 percent).
