Diamond Butterfly Award: Kyrgyz film awarded for best camera work

Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz camera man Talant Akynbekov was awarded the Diamond Butterfly Eurasian Film Award for Best camera work for Aktan Arym Kubat's film "Black Red Yellow," Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

Diamond Butterfly Award is the highest award of the Eurasian Academy of Cinematographic Arts. The first awards ceremony took place in Moscow on November 27. At the awards ceremony, Talant Akynbekov said that he dedicates this victory to his father, the renowned Soviet and Kyrgyz artist Mels Akynbekov.

The award's top prize is statuette and ten-carat diamond worth one million dollars, went to the Chinese film "Upstream" by director Xu Zheng. It tells the story of young man who dramatically changes his life after becoming a courier.

The "Diamond Butterfly" is a new international film award established by Russia's Ministry of Culture and the Russian Cultural Foundation. The first ceremony is scheduled for November 24, 2025, in Moscow and aims to promote films with traditional, spiritual, and moral values that unite peoples, with the main prize being a diamond-encrusted butterfly statue designed by Yuri Kuper. The award is open to films from any continent, and prizes include a $1 million reward for Best Film and $250,000 for other categories.
