Dostuk project to be major platform for trade and investment in Central Asia

Bishkek, May 7, 2026 /Kabar/. On May 6, during a short visit to Batken region, President Sadyr Zhaparov was introduced to Dostuk (Friendship) Stele erected at the junction of the state borders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the concept of the Dostuk International Trade and Economic Park. As a reminder, on March 31, 2025, the presidents of the three countries participated online in the unveiling ceremony of the symbolic stele, which symbolizes the friendship of fraternal peoples, the resolution of border issues, and a new stage of regional cooperation.

During the visit, the head of state was presented with the master plan for the construction of the Dostuk International Trade and Economic Park on the border area of ​​the three countries.

According to the presented concept, the complex, covering a total area of ​​100 hectares, could include administrative, tourism, logistics, production, commercial, and park areas. The project is aimed at developing trade and logistics ties, attracting investment, and creating new economic opportunities.

It is noted that if the project is implemented, it is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs and increase cross-border trade.

The concept also envisions the development of tourism infrastructure, hosting international cultural events, ethnic festivals, and exhibitions, which will contribute to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties and promoting the historical heritage of the Great Silk Road.

The head of state emphasized the importance of further strengthening good-neighborly relations between Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, noting the strategic significance of joint infrastructure and economic initiatives for the stability and sustainable development of the region.

The president also emphasized that the successful implementation of the Dostuk International Trade and Economic Park project is possible with close cooperation and collaboration between the three countries.

Sadyr Zhaparov expressed confidence that, with mutual support from both parties, this project could become a major platform for trade and investment, as well as a symbol of peace, trust, and unity among the peoples of Central Asia.
