Drug fighters of CSTO countries discuss joint activities in Bishkek

Bishkek, April 4, 2025. /Kabar/. A meeting of the Working Group of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on anti-drug operations was held in Bishkek on April 3, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The event was attended by representatives of anti-drug units, customs and border services, as well as financial intelligence agencies of all CSTO member countries except Armenia.

The meeting discussed key areas of joint fight against illegal drug trafficking. Particular attention was paid to coordinating the draft CSTO Anti-Drug Strategy for 2026-2030 and planning international operations to identify and suppress drug crime, including financial flows of the drug business.

Head of the Service for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ulanbek Sultanov emphasized that during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the CSTO, President Sadyr Zhaparov outlined priorities in this area at the session of the Collective Security Council in November 2024 in Astana.

"A number of anti-drug measures will be carried out in the country. We will focus our efforts on active measures against modern threats, including the spread of synthetic drugs," Sultanov noted.

Following the meeting, the participants expressed confidence that coordination of actions and cooperation within the CSTO will significantly increase the effectiveness of the fight against drug threats and contributes to strengthening regional stability and security.
