Bishkek, Jan. 23, 2026. /Kabar/. On January 21, the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the UN Global Compact Network in Central Asia was held. Ulanbek Nogaev, Eldik Bank Chairman of the Management Board and member of the Network's Board of Directors, participated in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the Network's performance for 2023–2025 and discussed key approaches to developing a strategy for 2026–2030.
The presented strategy envisages the development of partnership formats for interaction between companies, the expert community, and international partners, the implementation of joint initiatives, the promotion of best practices in sustainable development, and the use of analytical and research tools to formulate sustainable business solutions and enhance the competitiveness of companies in the region.
It is worth noting that Eldik Bank is an active participant in the UN Global Compact and became the first bank in the Kyrgyz Republic to join the Network in 2023, joining more than 17,000 of the largest companies from 160 countries. The bank's Chairman of the Management Board, Ulanbek Nogaev, is the only representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to serve on the Board of Directors of the UN Global Compact Network in Central Asia.
Commenting on the meeting's results, Ulanbek Nogaev noted that the UN Global Compact Network is a significant international platform for promoting the principles of sustainable development and responsible business conduct. He stated that participation in the Network enables companies to implement best international practices, strengthen their contribution to social and environmental development, and improve the quality of corporate governance. In this regard, he called on representatives of the Kyrgyz business community to more actively join the UN Global Compact Network and utilize its potential for sustainable and long-term development.
For reference: UN Global Compact Network in Central Asia unites over 100 companies from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan that have declared their commitment to responsible business practices and their willingness to take practical steps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
